Histories for Kids, Inc. / HFK PresentsHistories for Kids, Inc. specializes in historical portrayal and storytelling for children of all ages. These 45 minute, one-man interactive performances give audiences a new, first person perspective on the people and events that make up our history and culture. Not just a lecture, an experience! Actor and National Speaker Association member Terry Lynch, with his wife Laura, a certified teacher for over 20 years established Histories for Kids, Inc. as a way to bring history to life! Terry has performed at numerous schools, libraries, hist. soc., museums, and colleges nationwide. He's been part of the summertime fun at Taste of Chicago, and has appeared on the WGN Morning Show. As an educator, Laura has developed extensive curriculum based study guides to help prepare for, or follow up on assemblies. With numerous show titles to choose from, history happens when you don't expect it! Terry and Laura also established HFK Presents, programming for adult audiences. Winding Roads School AssembliesWinding Roads currently offers four character school assemblies, unique in that the performer changes into character right before the audience - Meet Mr. Lincoln, Inventing Thomas Edison, Mark Twain and Characters with Character.
Piankeshaw Trails Educational Park, Inc.Hands on interactive woodland Indian educational programs. This program offers opportunities for students to try stone, bone and wooden tools. They learn how structures were built and try on plant fiber clothes, bags and belts. They learn hide processing, scraping hair and skin from a deerhide and apply real brains to soften it. They learn hunting and fishing practices, shoot arrows, play real woodland games, and participate in role playing skits to engage them in real live history. They become voyageurs and members of a Native village exchanging furs for trade goods. There is so much to experience right in the classroom with real hands on living history.
