For school assemblies and/or fundraisers. We all know how important the arts are in the education of elementary to high school aged children. Exposure to the arts will always inspire creativity, provide excitement and increase their enjoyment of life in general. We also know that in the current economic situation, many schools are cutting in-school arts programs as well as special events like assemblies. It has become painfully obvious that our children will be the ones who lose out. As a full-time, professional entertainer who benefited greatly from experiencing LIVE entertainment as a child growing up in a public school system, David Oliver understands the importance of experiencing LIVE entertainment for today's kids. "The Magic of David Oliver" show is fast-paced, full of magic, music, comedy and audience participation suitable for all ages. It is a clean show with an upbeat message of creativity, stepping outside your comfort zone, and believing in yourself. The show has been witnessed by thousands of people around the globe on cruises, in hotels, at schools (all ages) and at resorts to rave reviews. Some of your students and faculty alike, will be asked to participate onstage during the show in some special and fun moments. There are even a few moments in the show when everyone in the audience will experience some magic in their very own hands! You may have seen part of David's show on one of many TV appearances, including recently, when he was featured on the Discovery Channel, CN8's "NiteBeat," "The Early Show" on CBS and "ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," where he helped design a "magic room" for an autistic child who loved magic. And for the past thirteen years, he has been the most requested guest performer in Broadway's longest-running magic show, "Monday Night Magic" in New York City.
Working with elementary and middle-school age children takes a special understanding to appropriately design a program to fit their education and comprehension level. Along with being an entertainer, for over twenty years David Oliver has also been the Boston areas adult director of a national youth organization dedicated to helping kids who have a desire to learn about the history, techniques and skills needed in the performance of magic and its' related arts (juggling, music, etc). While many of the younger members believe they are simply learning magic tricks, they are in fact learning to speak in public, on-the-spot problem solve, work on hand-eye coordination and build self-esteem. Thousands of kids have benefited from this program. So, David appreciates (and applauds) what you do on a daily basis, and has some understanding of what it takes to motivate and excite young students, such as yours.
I look forward to working with you, and performing at your school.
